Are There More Ways to God?

Can we climb any side of the mountain as long as we get on top in the end? Jesus Christ answers clearly: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by Me."I see all around me thousands of people making their own way to God thinking that He will accept it but He can’t! His holiness won’t allow it! God already had a way planned for man if he failed in obeying Him. This planned way was established before man committed the first sin of disobedience.

The way is through His gift to man, His Son Jesus Christ. Over two thousand years ago God’s Son paved the way by pouring out His precious sinless blood where it flowed toward the base of a cross that held one who simply was obeying the voice of His Father. This blood flow did not stop at the base of His cross; it continued to flow down the hill called Calvary on which the cross stood.

The earth, from which God created and took in His own hands to form His ultimate creation into His own image, did not reject the blood that had created it but accepted it and began to soak it into its depths. This flow began at the cross but it spread from that point and time to a past where a man and a woman wanted to be a god to a future where it will end for all mankind. Christ told His apostles that He was going somewhere, and they knew where He was going and the way to follow after Him.

In John 14:6 Thomas, one of the twelve apostles chosen by our Lord Jesus Christ, asked a question that Christ responded to; nothing could explain any clearer to man the way to God that Jesus’ answer.

Thomas spoke up and said, "Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?" Thomas was thinking physical once again, but Christ was referring to the spiritual. He responded to Thomas with a sentence that wipes out every way man can possibly come up with to return back to their Creator. This sentence answers the question what is the way to God? Christ answered, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me."

He couldn’t have explained it anymore simpler than this. This statement wipes out any claim that any man has ever made or is making that he has the authority and power to give man the way to God. This authority and power was given by God to His Son. No where is it recorded in the Bible that this authority and power was ever given to any other.

Therefore it is clear that no other intercessors are needed or accepted by God. Jesus Christ Alone is the Redeemer, our High Priest who intermediates between us and God.

Recently, I entered a traditional eastern European church whose sights are inexplicable; there was a mother and her daughter of around four walking around. The little girl left here mother and approached a prayer bench where above it hung a picture of a saint that a man, in his own mind, imagined what this particular saint looked like. Keep the phrase "looked like" in the back of your mind. This small precious blond headed girl knelt on the bench, bowed her head with her hands pressed together and began to pray to this saint. As the young girl was praying, I looked up to the face of the saint. I saw coldness, lifelessness, a face of brick whose lips were pursed as if to say "how dare you" "who do you think you are"? The most horrendous feature of this painted face was the eyes.

They didn’t not show love and forgiveness but shot out what looked like to me imaginary darts to the ones who knelt before them. I’m glad the little girl’s head was bowed. After finishing her prayer, her young head lifted, and she reached forward with her small innocent lips toward the pane of glass that enclosed this picture where she pressed her lips to its cold surface that had felt in that day alone uncountable actions of men performing the same task over and over.

"I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6 Jesus Christ and Only Him brought salvation and can give forgiveness to any soul. He loves us and His love is very much alive, it is felt in our hearts. Ask Jesus to come to you, save you and teach you how to walk in this world and He will!
