As the words of a mother comfort a child, the same way God our Maker comforts us, His children. Refresh your soul with some of the Bible’s encouraging verses from the Psalms. The Psalms are a great source of comfort for all of us who go through problems. All people eventually have to face hardships one way or the other, and our predecessors in the Bible faced them too, experimenting God’s grace in the deepest valley of their lives. May we all be encouraged, God is close to all those who call Him with a sincere heart. Dare! Call God in your trouble, His phone is never busy!
"The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will He harbor His anger forever; He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him; for He knows how we are formed, He remembers that we are dust.
As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.
But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD's love is with those who fear Him, and His righteousness with their children's children-with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts." Verses from Psalm 103.
"I lift up my eyes to the hills - where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD watches over you - the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD will keep you from all harm - He will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore." Psalm 121
"When I called, You answered me; You made me bold and stouthearted." Psalm 138:3
"Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes, with your right hand you save me. The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever - do not abandon the works of your hands." Psalm 138:7-8
"When my spirit grows faint within me, it is You Who know my way." Psalm 142:3
"The LORD…He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit.
The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground." Psalm 147:2-6
"For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. O LORD Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you." Psalm 84:11-12
At the end of your difficult period (it does have an end! Even if you might not believe it), you can compose your own heartfelt psalm telling the story of your own situation, making known how God answered your prayer when you called on Him. I did call Him and He answered me! Not only once but many, countless times.
The thing that makes God mad though is the lack of trust: "When the LORD heard them, He was very angry…for they did not believe in God or trust in His deliverance." Psalm 78: 21a-22
Therefore, let’s rely on His promises, He is a God that listens to our prayers, Jesus taught His disciples to insist and never give up praying.
"He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge." Psalm 62:6-7
