Bible Symbolism
Beyond the Parables Jesus used to conceal/reveal God's Truths...
www.unravelingfalseimages.comBeing a Christian now for over 25 years I have struggled with the same issues that all Christians face. As Christians we know the great promises of God in the Bible and we stand in faith the best we know how hoping to see their fulfillment in our day. The struggle for many of us is, while we know the promises, we often do not see the fulfillment of them in our hour of need. Now we know that God cares for us, and we know what He promised, so what then is the explanation for seeing little if any fulfillment of those promises? I am not questioning God willingness to provide, that is not the issue. So what I want to do now is to offer what I believe is a key to seeing the fulfillment of the promises of God in our day.
The key to seeing the fulfillment of the promise is to obey the instruction related to its fulfillment. Think about Abraham. God promised him a land, and a family that would be so numerous that he would not be able to count them. God also instructed him to leave his country, his kindred, and his fathers house, to go to land that God had promised would be his. Even the gospel has both promises and instructions. Repent and believe, the instruction, and you shall be saved, the promise. Think of all the times instructions are linked to the fulfillment of promises in the Bible.
It is not enough to know the promises, as important as that is, it is not enough. It is not enough to quote the promises, as important as that is, it is not enough. It is not enough to stand on the promises, as important as that is, it is not enough. I say this because if there is an instruction related to the fulfillment of the promise then the instruction must be obeyed. Could Abraham inherit the promised land by just sitting in his tent confessing his belief about the promise God made him? Abraham could not possess a land that he never entered.
Here is the vital part. Obedience does not earn me the right to be blessed. Jesus Christ's sacrifice at Calvary took care of that. Righteousness before God is a gift from God. So if you are born again, right standing before God is not the issue. I am not obeying in an attempt to get right standing, I am obeying because I have right standing and I am following the instruction that will lead me into the manifestation of the promises being fulfilled. I am talking about believers, who are already washed in the blood, learning how to walk with God and see the fulfillment of the promises of God for their lives.
We can testify to the reality of this truth. We truly began to see the fulfillment of promises again and again when we learned to ask God what He wanted us to do relative to the needs we faced. I can solemnly testify to you that if you will do what I am about to suggest then you will begin to see God bring to pass the promises He has already made.
This is what I have come to. A promise without an instruction, is hope that is not coming to pass. Why? Because the instruction becomes the road to the fulfillment of the promise. So pray in this manner. Father I come in Jesus name and here are the problems I face. I know what You promise in Your word and I ask You now for Your instruction, because I see in Your word that You always give an instruction that is directly related to the fulfillment of Your promises, so please show me what to do in this situation. If you will do this and obey the instruction you will see the fulfillment of God's promises.
