You Can Understand The Book Of Revelation - So Don't Give Up Christian!

Having been a pastor for more than fifty years, I know from personal experience, that many of God’s people, born-again people, find it very difficult to understand the greatest book of prophecy in all the Bible. Many find it to be a “closed book.” But obviously, that is an erroneous impression. God Almighty would not provide a book for us that we could NOT comprehend, for what would the purpose be? Books are for aiding people in their understanding, rather than muddying up the process of learning. So, of course, God inspired chosen men to write the sixty-six books of the Bible, to enlighten us, not to confuse us!

Furthermore, this is the clear purpose indicated in the very first verses of Revelation to encourage our reading, hearing and understanding the message given in the Book, that spells out the future events to take place in the future. Right now, we are only in the third chapter of Revelation as revealed in the Seven Churches of chapters two and three. Most Bible scholars believe, as do I personally, that we are in the final stage or age of the church history: the Laodicean Church. These churches actually existed when John wrote the Book under the guidance of God. They also represent seven stages or ages of church history.

The very name of the Book, Revelation, means to “reveal or make known.” A unique blessing is pronounced upon all who “read, hear and obey” the words written herein (Rev.1:3). The Book is given in a spiritual “sign language or code: It was signified or “sign-ified” it to His servant, John, the human author. The code or “signs and symbols” are used in the Book of Revelation the same as they are used throughout the scriptures. Metaphors and figures of speech in the Bible, are intended to enhance our comprehension and not to mystify or make it less understandable.

And let me say this emphatically, from studying God’s Word, the Bible, for over half a century: You will be blessed and rewarded for the effort you put into your study of the Book. But enter into the effort with the assurance that the God Who inspired the Book of Revelation, encourages you in every way to take the time and work necessary to examine the prophecies of the Book chapter by chapter and verse by verse.

Since 30% if the Bible is was future when written, if you fail to read the prophetic content of the Bible, you are ignoring almost one-third of what the Bible has to say. Also, since Revelation relates to major events, most of which have not yet been fulfilled, you are missing out a great spiritual learning experience – the greatest in all the Bible. I urge you not to miss out on one of the most profitable Bible studies of all: The Book of Revealtion.
